With Kesho eco-farm manager, Njau, on board, there was nothing for it
but to begin introducing “environmentally friendly living” lessons to
the Kesho house mamas and kids. Day one? Composting. Day two? Tree
planting. Mamas and kids, under Njau’s instruction, soon came to
understand that tree planting and nurturing would soon become an
integral part of the daily operations at Kesho Leo children’s village.
Afterall, Kesho will have an agro forest (where we regrow the timber we
used to build Kesho Leo), a fruit forest (for delectable delights) and
a eucalypt tree forest (for sustainable harvesting to use for firewood
as a back for our biogas kitchen).
