Job Description:
We require two volunteers interested in writing grant funding applications for fws. The good news is that the fws board members have been writing grants for years (and have succeeded at being awarded funding) so have a good stock of templates for these grant writers to use as a starting ground for each grant they apply for.

The fws’ grants officers will enjoy committing to writing at least 4 grants each, per year (that’s one every three months) for fws.
At this stage, the fws board members will be able to refer the grants officers to the grants we wish to apply for. In time, however, we would expect the fws grants officers to pro-actively search for other grants with fws might qualify to apply for.

This role also requires the fws grants officers to create and then maintain a calendar of the due-dates of upcoming grant applications.

These roles will require the fws grants officers to tailor each grant to the ideals of foundation being solicited, to write about fws and its projects in an exciting and energetic way and to be willing to liaise with the fws team who have the latest, up-to-date information the grants writers need.

The fws grants officers will work closely with the fws board member on the ground in Tanzania (via email) at the time, to get the latest information about the building and operating status of the Kesho Leo children’s village project.

The fws grants officers will also need to work closely with the Kesho Leo bursar to gain the latest information regarding the financial status of the Kesho Leo project.

The fws grants officers will need to work closely with the fws communications subeditor [to be appointed] to ensure grant applications are absolutely error free.

The fws grants officers will need to submit a copy of their grant applications to the fws president, for approval, at least 6 weeks before the application is due.

Liaise with:
fws president, Rebecka Delforce
fws board members, Shona, Anne, Kelsey.
The fws board member on the ground in Tanzania, who is able to give the latest information about the status of the Kesho Leo project
Kesho Leo volunteer bursar
fws accountant, Craig Rudd

Time:
2 hours per week, if you work in a planned, organized manner

Term:
Ideally, we’re after someone willing to commit to a 12-month posting.

Location:
    From home.

Skills:
1. An interest in all of fws’ prime concerns – education, vulnerable women and children, orphans, environmentally friendly living, HIV-AIDS, health, social welfare, community, Maslow’s heirachy of needs and economically sustainable projects.
2. Ability to set own goals and meet them.
3. Ability to meet deadlines, even when other’s input is required (this doesn’t concern you because you plan for other’s input to take time when you set your original goals).
4. Excellent writing skills to make the fws projects sound as forward-thinking, energetic, original and all-encompassing as they are.
5. Ability to work with a number of fws volunteers to ensure the information you detail in the grant is accurate and up to date.
6. An eye for detail that puts vultures to shame – don’t tell readers on page one that fws is asking for $28,000 and then tell them on page two that $32,000 is the sum.
7. Ability to accept constructive criticism – fws believes grant writing is a seriously important element of our day to day operations, so we like to get our grant applications absolutely error free and perfect in all ways!

Like to be responsible for flooding the fws coffers with the dosh that ensures fws helps the vulnerable women and children of Tanzania?
