fws aims to build and operate with minimal impact on the environment while promoting positive environmental practices in the local community. While Kesho Leo kids will learn eco-friendly practices simply by being a part of the Kesho Leo environment, we plan to run specific environmental lessons for them – and the local community – as well.

Kesho Leo has been built to ensure it meets the international eco-design and construction standards set by Green Globe, the global benchmarking, certification and improvement system for sustainable travel and tourism (endorsed by 182 heads of state at the United Nations Rio de Janeiro Earth Summit in 1992).

In the design of our children's villages, we follow Green Globe's eco-tourism guidelines with regard to waste minimisation, re-use and recycling; energy efficiency; water conservation; treatment of waste-water and effluent; biodiversity conservation (protecting and managing local ecosystems); air quality protection; lighting (including the requirements for a "dark sky" policy) and noise minimisation (including the requirements of a "natural quiet" policy).
