Darren's spirit and positive outlook on life was celebrated on Thursday 10 July 2008 in a ceremony attended by more than 600 family, friends and supporters.

His parents, and sons gave touching insights into Darren's family life, while his brothers Daniel and Jason played guitar and sang to honor him. Darren's  father, Sam Stratti, reflected on Darren's time in Arusha, saying "he found peace in Africa".

Darren's partner, Rebecka Delforce, shared insights into their relationship "because, just as we need to celebrate real heroes, we need to celebrate real love stories, as they inspire us to better things".

Rebecka's brother Joshua, read on behalf of Rebecka's father and told how the Delforce family loved Darren.

Darren's sons Robbie and Daniel told all how the things their father had taught them would live on in their minds and hearts forever, while Darren's friends Darren Pracy commemorated Daz's life and Paul Hunt read tributes from some of the many thousands of emails send to the Stratti family.

Darren's employers, the Hannas brothers, spoke of Daz's capabilities as a foreman for their company over the past 15 years.

Darren's kung fu instructor, Gary Martin, talked of Darren's achievements as one of 200 red sash kung fu artists and asked all not to "judge the man in the ring" via a reading he gave.

Speaking on behalf of fws, Robert Cork relayed the loss felt by our Tanzanian staff and explained how many in Sinon, Tanzania, saw Darren as a real-life hero.

fws architect Rob Watson read out an email he'd received from Darren and concluded that the "privilege" of working with, and knowing Darren, was all his, and that "they had a lot of work to do together yet".

Darren's music, the songs he wrote for friends and family, was played throughout.

The ceremony highlighted what an incredibly selfless, courageous and loving man Darren was, what a beautiful, inspiring soul he remains.
