Kesho Leo Early-learning Teacher

Job Description:
We require a qualified teacher to implement our specially-designed early-learning education program. The role will be responsible for:
  1. Planning and timetabling morning activities for pre-kindergarten children, afternoon activities for primary children, evening study skills for secondary-aged children and weekend activities for the whole group (the role will grow and change as the students do, initially the role will only involve younger students)
  2. Implementing the early-learning bilingual curriculum and working with, and training, local staff
  3. Maintaining resources and individual profiles of the children
  4. Learning to speak 'everyday' Swahili (in-country training available)
Liaise with:
Shona Arneil, fws Secretary (and education program manager) and Kesho Leo children's village Manager.
Time:
5 hours, 6 days per week (weekend rostering and hours negotiable)
Term:
12-month posting.
Location:
Kesho Leo children's village, Arusha, Tanzania, East Africa.
Skills:
  1. Effective cross-cultural understanding and excellent communication skills to confidently work with local staff
  2. Effective problem solving and organisational skills
  3. Skilled in planning educational programs in a variety of settings (non- English speaking an advantage)
  4. Creative in the implementation of the program.
  5. An understanding of the principles of play-based learning, thinking skills and bilingual learning.
  6. Innovative, flexible and has ability to work with resources available.
